I have been actively volunteering for my community since my arrival in Leeds nearly a decade. My passion for my community stems from my desire to teach my children about their heritage and inspire them to understand, embrace and be proud of their culture. I have a huge interest in my community, believe in building bridges and promoting community cohesion.

I have had the honour of serving this organisation in various capacities over the years. I was the Director of Administration from 2013 to 2015 and then in 2015 to 2017 I acted as the Project Director.

As a Senior Software Engineering Consultant, I believe in tenacity, forward-thinking and hope this will help me in delivering on the needs of the people of my community.

Mrs Evelyn Onokwu

Director of Finance

I have love and compassion for people, and I love seeing others thrive and exceed or achieve their goals. I also take the issue of physical and mental health seriously. I am solutions oriented and innovative in my approach to problem solving.
I believe one’s welfare is made up these five elements:

Income security – to ensure we have the means to live

Housing – to ensure we all have safe and secure homes

Support – to enable us to get the help we need to thrive

Health – to protect us from illness and accident

Education – to develop our capacities and gifts

Over my tenure as Welfare Director, I will seek to ensure that I meet the welfare requirements of individuals in need and our community at large either through effective signposting or NCL-led welfare initiatives.
