Nigeria House Leeds

Nigeria House Leeds

There is a pressing need to have a focal point where Nigerians can converge in the City of Leeds and share their richly diverse cultural heritage with other Leeds residents. Unfortunately, NCL still has no operational base after 24 years.

  • EXCEL@NCL is a thriving supplementary Saturday school for Nigerian children now in its 15th Year but does not have its own space.
  • There are several small businesses which have struggled with start-up costs that can benefit from shared office space and staff.
  • Nigerians are always in search for venues to hire for various events
  • A Nollywood Viewing Area
  • Sports facilities – e.g. gym, table tennis, snooker
  • Library featuring Nigerian and other African writers
  • An African foods shop, bar / restaurant
  • Many older generation Nigerians face social isolation as some of them have their offspring in different cities or even faraway countries. Nigeria House Leeds will provide a meeting point for social capital.
  • Nigeria House Leeds will also serve as an operational base for our mentoring programme for Young Persons of African Descent, where they can safely explore positive alternatives and become young achievers.

We have created a fundraising page for Nigerian House Leeds. This will help us raise more funds towards the project as we hope to make it a reality as soon as possible. Prior to Covid-19, through our Annual Gala Event and a few regular donors, we had raised £31,593. Our target for 2022 is £60,000.

All donations made through this channel would be recognised by HMRC and could be deducted from your income or corporate tax. Furthermore, by completing the Gift Aid form, an additional 25% of your donation will be paid to NCL by HMRC. This is a good opportunity for people running businesses whose donation will bring some tax relief and also contribute hugely to the establishment of Nigeria House Leeds.

If 1000 Nigerians donate £60 each (equivalent to £5 per month over the next year), we will raise £60,000 bringing us closer to our quest for Nigerian House  Leeds.

Please donate today by clicking the donate button below.

We can do this TOGETHER!
